What brought you into the world of PR/Communications, and what do you enjoy most about it?

I was in a different college major, but I had a part-time job doing social media and website work for a local organization. Through that job, I met the professor who ended up being my advisor! He encouraged me and assured me there was a path for me in PR and communications, so I switched my major, got a summer internship with Franco PR in Detroit, and I've been hooked ever since. I love the variety of work that I get to do - every day is different! I also love having the opportunities to tell stories that might otherwise not get told.

What is something you’re passionate about outside of work?

Previously, I volunteered with the Center for Survivors as part of the SACI program on campus, an incredible organization doing amazing work for the community! When I'm not working or volunteering, I love to cook—I count Ina Garten as a personal hero—read, as I usually have at least one or two books going, and travel, especially for concerts! Recent trips include Seattle for Beyoncé, Amsterdam for Taylor Swift, Chicago (and Wrigley) for Noah Kahan, Denver for Olivia Dean, and this fall, New York for Harry Styles! I also love TV and film, and I'm an expert on anything in the Bravo universe.

If you could have any celebrity, brand, or organization as a PR client, who would it be and why?

While Tree Paine belongs on the PR Mount Rushmore, I wouldn't mind slipping into her shoes for a day! Though keeping track of all of the Easter eggs might be stressful! After experiencing a lot of different industries, I think I'd love to try my hand at fashion PR—working for an iconic brand like Oscar de la Renta, Carolina Herrera, Ralph Lauren, or my favorite Project Runway winner, Christian Siriano. Other dream clients would be Andy Cohen and Bravo, Ina Garten, or maybe something in film! Having spent part of my early career doing events, it would be cool to see an event on a scale like the Oscars or a big movie premiere.

What is one fun or random fact about you that students might not know?

I originally wanted to go to school for opera and vocal performance—my childhood dream was to be on Broadway!

What has been one of your favorite projects, campaigns, or experiences throughout your career?

It's a tie! At Jackson National, I was invited to go to a touring Rolling Stones museum exhibit that Jackson was the title sponsor of. I got to go to the opening night party and got to meet Jimmy Fallon, Lorne Michaels, and, very briefly, Mick Jagger! The other was while an intern at Franco: I played Santa Claus in full costume, stuffed with newspapers, complete with beard, fake eyebrows, and a wig, on a live news broadcast in Detroit for an event with Comerica Bank and the Detroit Tigers after our paid actor came down sick!
